Lahore Sports:
Lahore is famous for its sports because it has very large stadiums and players from all over the world like to play here. People of Lahore are sports loving and they have a deep involvement in cricket and other sports and that is why we have decided to build a sports city here.
There are lots of facilities available here for players. The most modern facility will be built at a cost of Rs 30 billion at a suitable place in the city where sports academies of cricket, football, tennis, golf and other sports will be established besides creating stadiums and grounds. The other game of the Punjab well known as KABBADI
in Asia is famous in Lahore. Many citizens play kabbadi after their work. The Lahore Marathon is part of an annual package of six international marathons being sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The Lahore race carries gift money of about US$100,000. More than 20,000 athletes from Pakistan and all over the world contribute in this event. Now let’s visit virtually the stadiums of Lahore. The Gaddafi Stadium is a very famous Test cricket ground in Lahore which is designed by Pakistani architect Nayyar Ali Dada, it was completed in 1959 and is one of the biggest cricket stadiums in Asia. After its renewal for the 1996 Cricket World Cup, the stadium has now a capacity of over 60,000. Nearby are an athletics stadium, a basketball pitch, the Al Hamra, open-air hall similar in design to the coliseum, and the world's largest field hockey stadium. The Lahore Race Club, one of the prominent racecourses in South Asia.
Many plans exist to build Pakistan's first sports city in Lahore, on the bank of the river Ravi. According to PTV news Punjab Govt has approved a 30 billion Rupee Sports City to be built on 3000 acre of land near provincial metropolis, this is a public private venture and a private party will develop the facilities. Upon completion of the projects Lahore will be able to arrange mega sports events like Asian Games.
