Resolved Question: Is it safe traveling to Pakistan?

I've always wanted to see that country. Go to Lahore, and see the Indus valley plain, you know, travel around punjab and I would also like to go to Sindh and the northern territories. I come from western europe, so I'm wondering, is that safe? I'm going to be honest and say that what the media tells me about Pakistan is a bit frightening. My friends keep telling me that I should avoid it, because there will definitely be people in the streets connected to taliban or something similar that will notice me and try to kidnap me and stuff. That might be silly, but I guess you never know for sure.. So I'm wondering, have any of you out there travelled to Pakistan? How is it like? Are you safe to, lets say, walk around in Lahore just exploring on your own, or is it safer to travel to there if you know locals who can interpret for you and keep you safe?
